Default 1st generation s10 blazer trouble

I own the 92 version, 4.3 v6 262 cu in fuel injected , no extras, and a plane jane model. I'll make a long story short. Just recently had a catylitic converter replaced. A few months before that, a new computer, distributor and starter replaced. It runs like crap. When I accelerate, at times it seems there's no get up and go...just lags. And sometimes I can hear a pop sound from somewhere. Figured the converter was clogged and would solve the problem, but didn't It has well over 350K miles on original motor. I'm about ready to take it to a shop but I'm clueless as to what the problem is. I did give it a tune up this past summer.

a pop sound thru the exhaust or intake ?

it could be a jumped timing chain, if thats the popping sound im thinking of...
its a fairly easy d.i.y. project,
a good half day if you have some mechanical knowledge

a quick way to check timing chain slack on that high mileage of a motor is to grab the harmonic dampner ,
rotate it side to side, and you will feel the slack in the chain...

especially if it jumped, probably about $30 in parts, roughly

or....
check your ignition timing, since the distributor was replaced,

maybe its retarded/advanced too much

sounds like... from your um, lacking description that it could be fuel related. what other maintenance has been done to the engine? when was the last time you put on a fuel pump? how about the last time you cleaned the screen? serviced the injectors? cleaned the air filter etc. fill in as many details as you can and I and im sure others will try and help you out. Oh and the most simple question, any CEL's or codes?

if its anything like the older (1990s) 305, they are known to "round" the cam lobes, which will deffinatly make you loose power

keep getting errors on here and getting annoying!!!! Fuel pump was replaced earlier this past yr. Fuel filter was replaced twice and ignition coil 3 times. As for codes, it did a few times in the past. I raced to the auto parts store to get it decoded and the kid there said it wasn't giving out anything and suggested a cat convert. Being I've had the vehicle over 15 yrs and hasnt had a replacement I figure what the hell. Did solve my problem. Fuel injectors looked ok and should be funnel shaped which they are. it was constant so it was good. Gonna try some poking around tomorrow see if I notice anything.

The timing is good. I even had it checked again and stood there while it was done.
