Default civic hatch issues

I have a 1989 civic hatch with the "awesome" 1.6 sohc motor.
It usually fires right up if you leave it sitting for a while and the motor is cool, but after it warms up it stalls out easy and then will not restart, it will crank and has plenty of fuel but won't fire?

oh I should say it has fuel up to the motor but won't fire until you crank, sometimes for 10-200 minutes. It will also stumble when cranking and half start then die off again. Car has a light weight flywheel but that's only mod.

Check the coil/coil pack as soon as it dies see if it still fires my nephews car was doing the same and when the coil got hot it would quit firing.
Fuel, fire and air is all it needs to run, if it is still getting a spark try a small shot of starting fluid and see if it will bust off again, if it does may be a problem in fuel delivery.

that "awesome" motor you have if its a 1.6 is a mini me swap..because that car sure didnt come with it from factory thats a d16z6 or d16a2 sometimes you see a d16y7 but those were in the newer civics
those motors are proven to be bullitproof..you cant kill them ( my 1.5 d15b7 has over 245k and runs like a top)
as for your no sparking issue
pull the distributor take those 3 bolts that hold it in and see if the contacts r bad etc..
and replace it

I'll check the coil, and that was a typo 1.5 not 1.6.
this car has been driven hard that's for sure. it still runs and drives pretty well other then this issue.
