Default Let's talk new cars

Well, my truck is getting tired. Put 1.5 quarts of ATF last night, woke up and huge spot on the driveway. Rear breaks don't work the greatest. Was built, so not everything works perfect. Etc.

My dad and I went around looking at new cars. Requirments he set: good gas mileage and cheap. My requirment: it be a stick (pretty mutual for the gas mileage). We started looking at the Chevy Aveo as we love our American cars, but it didn't really meet what we want. We finaly came to a 2009 Toyota Yaris sedan.

It gets 29mpg in town and cost a tick under 16000. We think we can get 3k for my truck without the 20" rims (clean) or hope they extend cash4clunkers. We looked at a black one with a stick. He suggest I drop it, throw some wheels on it and tint the windows. I started to like the idea alot.

With a 60month loan, interest rate of 6.1% (Average for my area), 3k down payment my payments are right over $240 a month. I can swing that.

When I sell my 20"s, I can pick up some rims. I'm thinking these in a 17" with a 2" drop.
Kazera KZ-J Black w/Red Stripe

Opinions on the situation?

Cash4clunkers wont pay you 3k unless your car is mint and worth much more lol. Yaris is nice I'd get something else for the price tho.

Wouldnt it be smarter to go used? to spend $16000 you could get like a 05 bmw or something. thats a hell of a lot of money

Buy American so our money goes to Mexico? FYI, Toyota has more models of cars completely built in America than any other car company. Honda's up there as well, but all of the "Big 3" are built in Mexico...

OP, Yaris' are solid, and Cash for Clunkers is supposed to go till tomorrow from what I've heard...

In the sub compact market, the yaris was the nicest sadly.

Don't wast sour time in the economy guilt trip. Trust me I hate jap shit, but I don't like the Gm or ford sub compact. The Yaris isn't a horrible looking car IMO. I like my tahoe better but it's getting to the point of needing to get my money out of it.

And cash for clunkers is $4500. 3k is selling it, with work of course.

C4C also doesn't apply to used cars. Plus I'm going to school soon, so the warrenty on a new car will be nice.

Look for a used Mini Cooper. Great mileage and a better looking and handling car than the Yaris.

The diesel mini is good for 50 city/ 67 highway.
