Default Anyone good with go-karts?

I installed a head unit today and this guy gave me a go-kart (and a nice bong, lol)

Engine is 11 horse, just needs a gas cap and air filter and to have the bearing cups welded on.

How much would that generally cost?

The right side has it welded on, you can see where it bolts up. The same piece is on the other side, but it broke off I think.

i had a pocket bike for a while - ( the realley small one ) and now i have a vintage moped collection ( 2 stroke / pedal to start )

but that cart is pretty neat. do i see some sort of front suspension ? thats pretty rad most karts have no suspension at all and ride like crap on regular streets. the shifter karts also have no suspension but they only run on the track.

id say that was a home build ? the frame looks like it was not mas produced in my opinion - if you got it put back together and running i dont see why you could not get 900$ easy for it on craigslist. especialy with 11hp. is the motor a brigs n stratton ? if not what kind is it ?

I have 2 gopeds and I used to have a west hogs hogs california chopper that I traded for a 1978 ct70.

It was custom made and yeah it has suspension up front. It looks badass.

Really, $900? I was going to use it in the back yard and make a race track since we have about an acre.

Not sure on the motor. I forgot to take pics. I am going to pick it up tomorrow.

stock store brand go carts usualy are less than 6 hp motors on them - so if its realley got 11hp motor and its a light weight machine like it looks to be then it should realely get up and go ( and be terrafying if the breaks suck ) so the fun factor will be extreme - get one dude to test drive scare the pants off him and you can basicly name your price.. 900$ in running driving condition should be gone in less than a week.

my moped was a labor of love.
started with a rare puch magnum 1980 rusted to death - trash picked from a buddys back yard that was re claiming it to the earth.
turned it in to a vintage cafe racer lookin thing. love it.

That looks badass! If you kept it under 50cc you could ride that in the bike lane registration/insurance free! Just take the plate off and they would never know.

50cc from factory - 25mph no gears. just auto centrifugal clutch.
now
its 72cc - roller bearing race crank / 18mm mikuni carb / midrange tuned 2 stroke pipe - gps 56mph still no gears - centrifugal clutch - pedal to start - and actually you need to pedal off the line of a red light to get going lol
but man its insane. 56 mph actuall feels like = 125mph on a bmx bicycle. lol

the scarry part is that its drum breaks that are awfull . designed to work from 25mph and now i have digital ignition with advance curve so i can take my redline another 4k rpm higher. right now the stock spring points max out at 8500 rpm ( 2 stroke just love to rev ) but with the electronic ignition setup i have waiting to install i should see 12k rpm with no issue - and i have a 20mm carb wating for me to fix the intake manafold to go on with that..... so 65+ mph on something the size of a bmx bicycle is in my near future..... with terrible breaks = the most fun / exitment you will ever see for such little $ spent - talkin F1 / top fuel dragster type exitment fun lol

Does the carb have a high and low jet? I would hate having to push it every time. 50mph seems like a lot. Why not tone it down to get more acceleration so you don't have to push it? Even 40mph would be fast if you didn't have to push it.

There has to be a way to put disc brakes on that.

your having too much fun.

A couple years ago i hacked up an old beatdown gocart and made it into a mario cart lol It would get up to 40mph. Still have it in the garage, haven't used it in a while.

First pick was after the first rebuild. Then I went stupid on it. lol

I've almost killed myself on it a couple of times. Another expensive hobby I had to drop. Spending money on a deathtrap is not a good idea.

omg that mario kart is the best !!! what a death trap it must be crazy fun to blast with.
!!! im shure you ment to say spending money on that was the best idea ever !!!
lol
i bet you after a good full bore ride on something like that - you are happy and greatfull as heck to come home at night and eat cereal or ramen noodles for dinner and be happy to be alive with all functioning hands and feet. sometimes getting to that ragged edege is what can help put real daily life in perspective. im so greatfull for all the blessings i have. that being said im totaly ok eating ramen noodle for dinner and happy and greatfull for my life - no matter how crazy i / we choose to live it.

origonal poster - you have to get that cart running. and see just how fast it will go !! - an 11 horse power motor on that thing is double what it would come with from factory if it was made at a factory.

my little ped is probably still only 6hp and pushing 56mph lol imagine what 11hp would do in it !!

I have never had a go kart before. I'm excited to see how fast it is I probably won't want to sell it haha.
