Default Those with a sun/moonroof,look here

Just a few minutes ago, my daughters car 1995 Jetta, the sunroof quit working and was wide open. Great I thought so low and behold I peeled off a small panel next to the controls and was a allen wrench to manually close it. Smart idea from the Germans I might add! Anyway, my old lady was saying the sunroof was making a horrible noise while opening it. Wonder if the motor went out or...??

Fire... set it on fire... that will fix it...lol another option is to disconnect the wiring to the sunroof motor and leave it closed. Sunroofs suck to work on, could be the motor, could be the track, could be a clip, regardless it will probably suck and just break again. Its German, they kick all kinds of ass for a while, then they just die or surrender and get tried as war criminals...lol

Agreed. Probably more of a lack of lube issue than a failing regulator. Unless a basshead had it before you and it sags like sad boobies.

Nope. no basshead. Was a younger woman that owned it.
Oh? An easy fix sounds like and I got grease/lube in my garage. Where does it need to be greased?

Joking aside with the sunroof close it off idea, anything can fail in life, regardless of the year of the vehicle. In this case, who knows how the previous owners took care of the car. People hate them, yet love them when the weather is nice. Its a b!tch to get them fixed when they fail, but I guess you only live life once so might as well make use of it.

It's a powered one. It can slide open, close, and at an angle.
