I've got a 1982 sportster that my father handed down to me, he bought it brand new. It's got about 4k original miles on it, lots of fun to ride.

im a chopper guy thru and thru.
had a 78 xlch with a mag and no battery forever - till it jumped time and i about killed myself trying to figure it out. put in points / battery / regulator / new carb / new wiring / never ran right after the mag bearings went bad and jumped time tho....
was such a beast when it ran good - i miss it and am glad to get rid of it at the same time lol it ran poorly more often than not
lotts of crap done the "old school" way on it that id rather have modern convenience..... like a front break would of been nice
lol

stay away from older harley's, unless you have a sentimental bike or very loose budget.

my wish list bike would be a big cubic inch v-rod road glide

I have zero problems with people having a shop or other enthusiast do their build. But it's a little disrespectful they take credit for it and/or don't correct people when they assume the owner did the work. Happens all the time.

I don't have a budget or time frame.
The old school bike will be after I have a cruiser.
edit: this is close to what I'd like to build.

Why do u say that? Just curious..

Imo nothing beats the rumble of a Harley, I really like the way it sounds at WOT.
I also like american street bikes though, like the mid 2000s buells or the current EBRs.
