Question BCM advise needed

about a month ago a shop installed my NEX4100 on my 07 frontier CC and I left with my power door locks not fully functional. Keyless entry only unlocks driver side and master switch doesn't lock or unlock anything. Took the truck to a local AUTO Electric spot with very high reviews.

AUTO shop said my BCM is fried and I need it replaced. Luckily I have a friend who can give me wholesale prices through his business at no charge.

With that said, I am assuming the install of the NEX messed something up. I've already forked out about 200.00 just on getting to the root of my door lock issues and don't want to keep spending on diagnostics, How can I troubleshoot so this doesn't happen again?

I'd hate to buy a new BCM, install and the new BCM gets damaged.

Thanks for the help, it's greatly appreciated

What vehicle?

Worst case you can install door lock actuators to manually pull the lock/unlock on each door

If they didn't work when the car left and they did before I would talk to that shop and say it's their fault

I tried and they said they can't do anything about it.

I was given the option of actuators and after market alarm. I can only think if something caused this, I'd rather fix it. Last thing I want is to get stuck somewhere because there was something greater than the door locks. I tried to drive w/no BCM and my truck wont start. I tried to google and youtube but I can't find anything. Just locations and how to install threads.

Are you confident it was the shops fault? Call and tell them you will go to the BBB about the issue, and if need be get your attorney involved.

100% sure it was working prior to the install, no doubt. I use the lock system daily.

Is there a way to check these at the junkyard? Ohm meter or something? I doubt its plug n play as it needs to be programmed to my key.

The only way to fry a bcm would have been from hooking up the radio while the battery was connected.

Or they hooked the ignition wire to a power wire coming from the bcm.

Installing a radio should never fry a bcm. You may have a bad fuse or main fuse going bad.

I wish I knew, i just dropped the truck off and left.

So if I change my power lock fuses and make sure the stereo is connected right, I don't have to worry about frying a new factory BCM?

I couldnt say if fuses will fix the issue, but knowing exactly which wires should be used to install the unit should keep you from frying another bcm..

Just disconnect the battery.

Are you installing it or is that same shop gonna do it?

I would just install the bcm and have a better shop do the install. You should have had the shop pay for the new bcm and repair.

Going back to the auto Electritian so they can install the BCM and double check my wiring.

This postponed my 4ch upgrade
