Default Does 92K need a hotrod?

http://tulsa.craigslist.org/cto/1507716003.html

I almost literally popped a chubby when I saw this ad.

I can fix everything that is wrong with it that they list.

It appears to only be paint.

My best friend paints.

Free labor FTW!

And someone from my church that lives less than a mile from me does upholstry.

So there is the body and interior.

I can run a fuel and brake line no problem.

I'm so excited. I will probably go look at it and it will be a pile of shit and I will then kill myself.

Nothing that can't be fixed. I've loved that year T/A for as long as I can remember.

I'm going to offer him my blazer for it.

And if he wont take it I will offer $800 to see if he will settle on 1K.

If I cleaned it up and fixed it all up I could easily sell it for 10K, but I would be too scared to take it out of the garage.

Only do it if you know what you're getting into.

Keep in mind that you're most likely going to have to replace ALL of the rubber lines, hoses, fittings.

It says interior needs work... Check around the net and see how much some of those pieces run. (it's ridiculous)

Look for rust man. Rust (as i'm sure you know) is bad. That car is at an age that it isn't worth replacing body panels and floorpans. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful car when done right... It's just not highly saught after yet... (making some parts nearly impossible to find) You can easily get a different body for around the same price.

And not to mention, the engine may have to be completely rebuilt, the transmission may be shot. Things may be seized up, parts may be hard to find.

Just a couple of things to look for.

Don't let me or anyone get you down, i just know from re-doing mine how big of a pain in the ass it was, and how much some parts (no matter how small) run. And mine is a 91, lol.

GM doesn't make the parts anymore, so either someone is making them aftermarket and thinks they can charge a boatload for them, or you have to buy NOS, which is even pricier than the aftermarkets.

And not to mention T-tops are a pain in the ass...

If i were you i'd offer him $600.
He's going to have a hard time selling that car, so feed off of that. Wait it out, and if you really want it, then offer him $800.

I know all about it, I am a mechanic. lol

If the motor is junk I will either rebuild that one and have a big nasty 400sbc or upgrade the front springs and drop a big block in er.

Like I said, I know a guy that does interiors, and my best friend paints/does body work. We can patch rust and whatnot.

My 88 Blazer has a transmission out right now that made a rod start knockin so it is in the process of getting a used motor/trans put in it.

I've just always loved that body, and if I fix it up all nice and pretty in the later years it will be worth a ton of money.

Plus if you roll into town in a nice old hot rod with a big ass nasty sounding lopey cammed out motor in a car painted gloss black with a big red and gold bird on the hood, what chick isn't going to throw her panties in your face?
