Default 1979 AMC Pacer help

Long story short my friend had a pacer for 4 years. It finally blew up. From what I've been told, black smoke starting billowing out of the engine and filled the cabin. Due to sentimental reasons, we'd love to bring it back. Anyone have any ideas or links on what I'm assuming is a new engine?

I'm sure it would help listing more information about the motor... Like size, cylinders, etc.

If it was the 232 mill, here's an eBay auction: click here

Just giving you a hard time, bro. It appears there's 3 motor options. The 232 inline 6 cylinder, the 258 inline 6, and the 304 V8.

I HIGHLY doubt it was a V8. Thing couldn't climb any hill without stalling.

I'd wander around for some AMC forums. There HAS to be some. I'm sure they're all talk about the Javelin and AMX, though.

Figure out which motor it has then we can go from there!!! I still think rebuilding the stock motor would be a better option. It may cost a bit, but it will run like new!
