Default alternator in the trunk

Ok, I'm building my f...k around car, 1974 toyota celica, I'm swapping a 13b turbo II s5 engine, car is 2500 hundred pounds, engine has 200 hp stock, u do the math !

So as we stand right now engine is mounted, engine swap came with wiring and computer, but I also got a microtech lt10 for it!, well plans change, is not a daily driver so just for the cool factor I ripped the electrical out and I'm working on a blown thru turbo system with a marine holley carb! I love the old school look, I'm puertorican, got no choice! Hahahahaha!

I'm replacing the water pump with an electrical remote mount pump, so the only thing being driven by the crank is my alternator. Now just for the naked look and weight distribution, I want to eliminate the alternator and place it in the trunk running of a 12v motor, I have the idea but I'm not sure of the electric motor I would need, that's where all of u electrical geniuses come in play!

I need a motor that would at lease run at 3000 rpm, be power by a 12v bat in the trunk, heavy duty. Affortable!

Any ideas, suggestions or experience let me know!

(Once the alternator is gone, I would have space for the eaton m90 on top of the engine, can u say twincharge baby!)

Um, the elec motor doesn't have to spin 3000rpm....

You use gear ratios for that.

I don't know how fast the alt has to spin to put out it's max amperage so I can't tell you what gear ratio to use.

And you will need a good heavy duty motor if you plan on putting any kind of strain on the alt because they can get pretty difficult to turn under high load.

you can't run the alt off of an electric motor and create enough power to turn it properly other wise people would just use generators to power their house and then just plug the generator into the wall and free electricity

are you serious?

you want to run an alternator off an electric motor and expect the combo to actually create energy? Something in the system would have to be over 100% efficient to create ANY electricity..

If the alt puts out more than the motor draws it'd produce power...........

If it takes 30A to spin the alt, and the alt can put out 120A then you have 90A to play with.

It's not the best way, but I still think it could work.

Lmao this is hilarious. It takes energy to make energy. You can't just run little generators to spin bigger generators lol. That would definitely solve the worlds energy problems if you could though.... lmao

Well, think about it. The alt is charging your battery, the motor spinning it would just be a draw like turning your headlights.

2x 35W lights is 6A worth of constant draw on 12v.

My 2x 100W KC lights were 16-17A of draw.

So if the motor spinning the alt only drew 20A it'd be no different than me running my KC lights.
