Default got a ticket for tints!

yeap, city of chicago got me for 250!

but im fighting, i do have tints and yes a lil darker that the law says but:

the ticket says: violation###### tints prohibited*
tints are not prohibited, tints are legal as long as u follow the simple rules: dont feed them past midnight(ooops)
1. if u want tints all around, do 35%
2. if u want darker than 35% dont do the fronts

so there is no notes on whats wrong with my tints, it just says :tints prohibited*.

the ticket was hand written at 3:05 am, tell me how dark my tints are at 3am and i would give u $250!

the car was parked so the cop had no way of testing the light refraction on the windows

by the way the * means the violation is because the car didnt pass a city of chicago regulation, the car is register on Cicero,Il.

so, can i fight?

Usually they test them but if there is no indication stating they are darker than legal limit, you may have an argument. Take it in and see what they say. Tickets here in Minneapolis are pretty simple and easy to get out of.

Wow, that is a very good question.

Also, I thought that anything less than 50% on the front windows was illegal in IL. My brother just got his windows done and he had to sign a waiver because he had them do 35% on the front windows.

I also understand that the machine used to test for light refraction is very expensive so not many cops carry it with them.

Who here has full knowledge that can explain the new law and maybe even provide links to document their statements?

sounds like you should be able to, you didnt drive your car after midnight, or before a certain time, so really he just gave you a ticket for having tint on a parked car, after midnight....
i think you should be able to

I don't like the fact that they can just walk around and ticket you even when your car is parked. If it is a parking ticket or something of that nature, fine. But when it is for window tint, no front plate, etc, I think that is BS.

If they are illegal you will not get away with it, parked or not you can get a ticket. I've had a cop make me roll up my front windows to check.

No point in arguing just remove it and put it again.

It's what I said many times. I did 5% on my van and left the front alone. I intend on doing 35% on my other 2 cars (even though it's gay and you can still see in) but if you got darker than 35% all the way around, you can't fight that. Doesn't matter how dark it is. You'll hang yourself trying to get a cop to use that meter to see how dark the tint really is.
You were parked in Chicago Brah. If it was for a Chicago city sticker you could fight that.
