Open the gas cap and listen very carefully while somebody else turns the key to the run position (do not start but key all the way on).If your fuel pump is working you should hear an electric motor type wine.try it a few times and tell me if you hear it running when you cycle the key on

If the fuel pump is running and it still isn't starting after you fill it up check the fuel filter. All the junk that floats around in your tank will get sucked up into the filter when you run it dry.

Good call but IME a clogged filter will usually let the engine start or hard start and idle rough or smooth but the second you touch the gas it will die.
