Hyundai is really killing it with their new stuff. I've driven all those cars extensively, and while the GC isn't as good as the G37, for significantly less, it sure as hell is a better value. Some of the materials feel a little cheap still (the steering wheel and the silver plastic pieces mostly), but it's a hell of a nice car. Sure it's not as nice as the G37, not as fast as the G37, not as stylish as the g37, but for 10 grand or so less, you get a huge amount of the features, and a nicely modded GC will look as good as any G37 IMO.

When the Genesis sedan came out, I wasnt impressed. I was missing the trees for the forest so to speak. I kept thinking "oh but its slow, the V8 Genesis is slower than the V6 Lexus GS" and all that crap. I was totally missing the point. The Genesis isn't about being fast, its just a very nicely appointed luxury car. It's not a sport sedan, it's a luxury car for people who don't care about stoplight racing. It's got enough power to move itself with ease even fully loaded, and its got plenty of tech toys and luxury features. Very nice cars indeed.

I'm interested to see what the new Equus is like. Rumors are that they've got a DI 5.0L version of the Tau with hp around 450 for it (and possibly a top level Genesis). Rumors also were that Kia was going to be getting a car on the same platform. I wouldn't be ashamed to drive a cheaper, sportier Kia version of the Genesis with a v8 at all...

Interesting article(s).

You know I really like those Genesis. Especially the front ends on them. That grill looks great. I've never driven one or really looked at one in detail, but I'm gonna have to head down the road to the dealer and check one out.

The ONLY thing I dislike about Hyundais is the "H" emblem. For some reason, it still looks cheap the way it's designed; I don't know why. I think they should change it next...

there is a defference in quality from a hyndai to a infinity and even more so to a kia

you pay for quality.

thats like compairing a dual flip up to an alpine flip up, they do the same thing but one is a little better than the other.........

still not convinced... ecpecially after owning many diff types of cars. some models have tendancies... like cadilac CTS have tranny issues... lol and early 2000 and late 1990 civics have timing belt issues...

I had a kia and i loved it... not one issue

The Domestics have better fit and finish than the imports but suffer in reliability usually.

That's why they didn't use the H logo on the outside of the Genesis I agree though, but I'm not too fond of the wings logos that are floating around (the ones that look like Bentley logo ripoffs). I love that front end design though.

Sure there's a difference in quality. But the point is that Hyundai can use high quality materials and build a damn nice car. It's not like they can only build cheap crap. That's what the Genesis was about. A lot of rumors were swirling that if the Genesis cars sold well, Hyundai wanted to make the Genesis line its own brand with its own dealers and such.
