Default Buying a car with a salvaged title.. Yes or no?

It seems to be a double edged sword, but sometimes you can get great deals out f it.. Ive never bought one myself , so what does a salvaged title do, and what are the negative to buying a car with one? Reason Im asking is because IM looking for a reliable daily driver and came across this.. What do you guys think?

Just ask his to show you pics of when it was damaged, then make sure to check the areas that were repaired and make sure the quality of the work is good.
And if all that is good then you might be ok getting it, unless you want to put an expensive system in it. Cuz at least in California, the only bad part about having a salvage title is that you can't get full coverage on the car most of the time.

Ahh Maybe thats the downside I was thinking of to a salvaged title.. Either you cant get a loan for it, or full coverage ins.. Sucks Cuz I only have about 8K in the bank , so I dunno how I could get the other 2K or so if he took 10 for it..

He said he has pics, so hopefully Ill check this out tomorrow..

also the resale value is wwwaaaaayyyy below what it normally would be

i would get a knowledgable friend to look at the car with you and see what he thinks, note any problems/could be problems and go from there

WEll from the looks of it, he has the entire HFP package on it , with the wheels and body kit, and the lowering springs.. And those are not cheap.. And not even including that , just with the basic in car options, this car books at $15,200.. So even 11 at this point seems fair.. I hope it still has that new car feel, where everything is still tight , no rattles etc etc.. If thats the case I might have a new car tomorrow

But does it book at 15k with it being a salvaged car If that's the original condition price then it wouldn't be worth more than like 5 without the nods and id pay 8 if the car really looks good and you think its worth it. Try to haggle and go as low as possible, im sure with it being a salvage he's not getting many bites on it.

No with a clean title it books for 15K, plus the 2K in HFP parts on it ( at least all the ones I can see , rims , body kit, springs, spoiler, moonroof ) puts it @ 17K.. Is that trade in value? No, but its a great PP value to me it seems.. maybe Ill start at 9 and see what happens from there.. Cuz I really do need a car, but I can never let the seller know that

Ask who did the work on the car and INSPECT the hell out of it. If it had crushed floorboards lift up the carpets and make sure the pans were replaced and welded.
Look under any fender wells that were damaged to be sure they were replaced and not straightened.
For rear end damaged ALWAYS pull the carpet from the sides and floor in the trunk to check for buckling or sloppy seam repair.

To be honest you can get a "salvaged" vehicle that was stolen and simply needed an interior or steering column replaced. On the other end of the spectrum my boss bought a FUBAR 07 shelby gt and rebuilt it. Needed everything but the trunk lid and frame replaced lol. But he got a shelby for around 14k. Then sold it for 22k since it only had 38k on the clock and a fresh Hertz paint job (He paid me 1k to paint the damn thing) with lemans stripes.
