Default Any "Professional" Directed/Viper installers?

Not sure if this is in the right section or not, if not sorry.

Here is the problem:
I went to my local Best Buy today and picked up a Viper Smart Start to go with the Viper 5901 that's already installed in my truck (was done professionally). I got home and installed it without a problem, it went through the initialization process and is just waiting for me to activate it. Problem is I found out after looking for the last hour that they wont let you activate it unless you're a "professional installer" with a username and password to log into their site. I called the 800 number and all it does is sends me to my local dealer's phone. They don't have a username or password to get on the site either because nobody has wanted to pay the price for a smart start yet, so they haven't activated one and have had no need for log in info..

Guess what I'm asking is, if anyone on here has a username and password for their site, can you please PM me and help me get this activated.. I have the Module ID number needed right in front of me and from what I can see it shouldn't take long to do it. Thanks.

NVM, still having a problem.. According to Viper they can't possibly in any way activate it for me, it has to be activated by a dealer.. He said for the dealer to activate it he has to verify everything is working (which I already know it is).. My dealer said he can't activate it, guy on the phone said if they wont work with me to go to the next closest Viper dealer.. Next closest dealer is a 4 hour drive.. **** Viper.

You have to have it installed by Best Buy to get it activated by BBY. Any BBY employees found to be activating installs not paid for are terminated (and corporate does check). I'd imagine it's very similar for any other shops, though you may be able to pay the normal install price at some shops and have them activate it for you.

The item I bought included install, so technically I paid for the install. I just wasn't going to wait 1.5 months to get in for an appt when all the install consisted of was connecting a positive and negative wire, and then plugging two pin connectors in...

Wow. I think I'd be telling Viper where to stick their device. Especially seeing how some of the "professional" installs have turned out from Best Buy that they're trying to push on you. Just my opinion.

I definitely wasn't nice to the guy on the phone.. Started as an argument and ended with him saying "well give me your number and I'll have our 'specialist' call you back"..(I wont hold my breath) ****ing *******s.. But the head installer at Best Buy wasn't in when I called and from what I hear he's a good dude and knows what he's doing. I'm hoping when he calls me back in the morning he'll help me out. The others I talked to there were COMPLETELY clueless.

But, if they're gonna make a product that you can ONLY have an installer activate, they need to make that clear when you buy it. Nowhere on the box does it say anything about it.. I only found out after an hour of searching their site and finally seeing my answer in the "FAQ" section..

99% of consumers have the place they buy it from install it. They do make it known in the paperwork and on their website, it's just a matter of if you look for it or not.

My shop doesn't accommodate people at all who aren't nice. If you can't be nice, we won't deal with you. In fact, when people yell at us over the phone, we tell them to stop or we're going to hang up. If they yell at us in person, we tell them to stop or we're going to have them escorted out by police and asked never to come back. We don't get paid enough to deal with douchebags.

If you had come to my shop with an attitude, we'd have sent you packing, and not let you return the product since it was opened. We really don't like it when people have attitudes with us. You can't treat us with respect, well then **** you.

And when did I say I said anything out of line to the shop? I said the guy on the phone (from Viper) started arguing with me.. Didn't say shit about arguing with the shop.. Said the guys that I talked to from Best Buy didn't know shit, but not that I was disrespectful to them.. And the only possible way I was able to find this information was by looking at the FAQ on Viper's website. Before I bought the thing, I called and asked if I could install it myself and they said as long as I know how to wire it. Pretty sure that if Best Buy didn't know that it HAD to be professionally done, Viper obviously doesn't make it clear enough. The people with Viper even said that this is a new thing and a couple of months ago you were able to activate it yourself, but they changed it..

Not sure if you got this out of what I have said or not, but Viper did say there is no reason for my Best Buy to not be activating it. That was the part where they said if my Best Buy wont work with me to go to the next closest one.
