Default Off Road Lights Set-Up

Well, this one isn't about me but I would like others input.

One of my younger coworkers is wanting to put 10 KC lights on his truck (1999 Chevy Tahoe 5.7L auto 4wd 4 door) and I was wondering who wants to come up with a good way to hook all this up. He wants to run them on 2 different switches.

He wants the two on the bumper on a separate switch from the other 8 on the roof, and he wants the back 2 tied in with the reverse lights.

I think I have got something worked out but I would just like to see what others come up with. Also what size wire would you suggest running? I was thinking a run of 8 AWG to a distro block somewhere kind of centralized between the lights and running probably 12awg to the lights. I would also use 3 relays in the system and I saw a relay plug on partsexpress that has a diode on it so that would be on the relay to the top lights so when the back two kick on from the reverse lights it will stop the power from going to the others maybe.

This is still in thought stage and I haven't got to really draw stuff out, I just mapped that out in my mind and think it should probably work.

I know some of you out there think differently and might know a better way. Also let me know where the best place to get the stuff is if you know off hand.

EDIT: The lights pull ~10A each I believe.

EDIT #2: Forgot the pic he drew of the layout.

Thats a-lot of lights.. lol. But im the same way...

There is a roof type rack that will hold 4-5 lights (Cant remember what its called, but nice little setup tho). I would do 4 up front (Bumper) 4-5 up top (Roof) & 2 in the back (Either back roof by hatch or 2 underneath rear bumper, kinda like flood lights/rear backing lights). I would also have them so they could be swiveled side to side...

Just me...

the rear ones I would just splice into the reverse lights it's not enough draw to **** anything up they won't be on very long any way
then run the other 6 on the roof to one switch in the cab and the 2 on the bumper to another switch
now if he wants to be able to turn on the rear lights with out reversing that could be a little harder

Yeah he wants all roof lights to work together but the backs to work with the reverse lights as well.

And he is making his own rack for the roof, and cant have anything down low to get broken off. The truck is getting an 8" lift and I believe 42" tires, so that shows how serious he is in the mud.

All 10 lights on at the same time would be pulling around 100A just fyi

ok if he has them on why would he need them to turn on with the back up lights seems like he is trying to over engineer it I doubt he would need them to do that anyway and won't use them separately

Well he wants them on the reverse lights for everyday use backing up. But wants them to flood the rear if he gets stuck off roading.

he does know that will piss people off right
I don't know how to make them do that cause I won't ever need to do that I doubt he would even notice they arn't on until he needs them

What kinda truck does he have?

Be a nice setup when its all said & done. Will say have 5 lights hooked up to for reverse lighting is alot IMO, but no biggie...

I'd just run 2 switches...

The type of vehicle is in the first post, and he already plans on using 2 swtiches. And there will only be the 2 facing back that will come on when backing up.

I was just wondering how I should run the wires. Distro block, 8, 10 or 12 awg wire, diodes, relays etc...
