Default Big Three Upgrade problems

Ok i have 03 svt cobr that i plan on putting a system in and im trying to do the big three uprgade on it. The problem is when the ground and power wire (which is 1/0) is hooked up the batt light comes on and alt does no charge. connections are tight sloid and not touching anything it shouldnt. I useing copper connectors so its a good connection. As soon as i take the ground/power off the alt charges with no problem......i have a custom tune on the car it puts out 525 to the tires could that be the issue Im at a wall with the knowledge i have. All the fuses are good none blown..ANy help would be greatly apprieciated!!!!!m

System power for subs is 2x12 @ 2000k each
so prob a 40.1 amp
power bass 600.4 to power mids and highs
mids is 4 power bass 6.5's and cresendo super tweets

Leave all the original wires in place and add your BIG three as a piggy-back. That way you are not compromising your original wires.

There is no reason to remove original wires.

yeah all original wires are staying just adding the 1/0 for better charge to batt. The only thing i came to was that i might ahave to build a bracket for the alt post to keep wires from hitting the case? Or it has something to do with the custom tune on the car . it just doesnt make sence how it works with the stock wires but now the added wires.

you could take the extra wires off and see if it goes back to normal.

My guess is you misplaced a wire or forgot to plug something back in. {maybe a connection elsewhere got disconnected}

As far as wires hitting the case, yes, supporting them is best.

Make sure your new wires have a bit of slack to them so when the engine torques and twists under load the wires have some to give.

because im going to bet this car is a street car, which he enjoys to drive. The weight added wont really hurt the thrill of driving. Sure if he is a drag racer looking for every tenth it makes sense to have no stereo.

Probably exactly it. I drive a z28 and 90% of my driving is like, to the store and crap. I don't like the feel of all the wieght in back but I love just cruising and listening to some tunes.
