Default 95 suburban 5.7 350tbi engine code 32-map sensor. help...

o.k so i just got done rebuilding the top ends with new heads n all,

truck was running perfectly fine. i then took it out yesterday on a highway run about an hour away to my cousins house and my check engine light came on.. i pulled over at gas station, turned truck off, turned it back on and the light was off and never came back on.

today i pulled the code and got ,

code 32
  • BARO sensor circuit(carb models)
  • EGR circuit(injected models)
  • MAP sensor(open)
now i need help as im not sure what these codes means or where the map sensor is. i have the throttle body injected 5.7 350.

where do i start to look ?

i have a 97, so its a lil different. But i remember i had to replace that sensor before. If i recall correctly mine plugs into the my air intake (between the air fliter housing and the throttle body). It was literally just kinda like a plug-in type sensor.

start it up and unplug the sensor and see if it starts running rough cuz it should make it run different with it unplugged. then plug it back it and see if it idles better.

If it went on and now it's off, it's the EGR. Don't worry about it.

It's pretty much the only sensor that will allow the SES light to actually turn off because it isn't critical to the actual operation of the engine.

Well. You didn't mention that earlier. The MAP sensor is located, mounted on the intake manifold. Looks like this.

Duralast/MAP Sensor (SU105) | 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD 8 Cylinders K 5.7L TBI | AutoZone.com

First thing you'll wanna do is make sure the vacuum hose is hooked to it. If it is hooked up, try replacing try replacing the sensor.

FYI, If the truck runs better with the SES light on then it's going into "Limp home" mode, and it will run better. It defaults to a generalized fuel map and timing table, bypasses the O2 sensor, EGR and MAP sensor. Basically it's PE mode all the time.
