Default I know this is a ca forum, but maybe someones a mechanic? My accords sucking hard :(

Hey guys, I was just hoping someone knew about engines and could explain wtf is up with my car.

Recently in the hot days, if i stay still with the air condition in traffic or something, my oil temp meter rises like a mofo. It never used to do that... I realize its hot out but still. When I was checking out my engine bay I noticed that only one of the two fans by the grill are on. Is that normal? I figured that could be the problem there, just want some resolution.

The next issue is much bigger. Its been idling incredibly low. I have been driving this car for almost 4 years and around 50k miles. I know where it idles at. And recently, it has been idling like crap. Usually at dead stop, it will hum around 700 rpm with the air condition. Recently it has been dropping below 500 and sputtering itself back up to around 700... Wtf is wrong with this thing.

Next issue, my check engine comes on and off randomly. Usually when the sputtering issues come around it decides it wants to come back on. But when I get the codes checked, it says o2 sensor. Which is not a new problem for me. (I replaced both o2 sensors. Why wont that code go away no matter how many times I erase it?)

Please tell me one of you guys is brilliant in engines and can give me some sort of piece of mind. I plan on going to mieneke or something tomorrow and seeing what they charge to diagnose it. But if i can have some sort of idea of what im looking at before hand, maybe i can avoid being jerked around.

Thanks guys

usually one fan is constantly on once the car has warmed up, and the other is on only during ac use. it could be the fan itself, or the sensor that tells it when to turn on (near the thermostat on my honda). i'm experiencing the same problem, and have the fan on the way. and the low idling could possibly be caused by a dirty air filter and or a dirty throttle body. clean the throttle body with some brake cleaner if it's dirty. The rough idling could also be caused by the over heating of the engine, i know mine would be slow and rough once it got hot.

You think its something as simple as the air filter?

i don't think it would be the filter itself making it run bad, but the dirty throttle body and a dirty filter would make it run pretty bad.

My 2000 civic did the idling thing and needed a tune up even tho it threw an o2 sensor code. When was the last time you did a full tune up on the car? Plugs, wires, pcv, air and fuel filters, etc.

I havent ever since i bought it :/

Always to scared to try anything with my engine myself.

Seafoam, clean MAF and new fluids - Drive Accord Honda Forums

After reading this, I may go ahead and try them. Makes me nervous, but everyone in there said it helped a shitload.

While I am at it, any other ideas on what to replace?
