Default head unit install help

That title sounds dumb lol but cant really figure a different one out.

I was going to purchase a double din dvd player and decided against it for a few reasons. Well Ive decided to go with a single din deck but cant stand the way single din radios look in my car. Im wanting to see if you guys have any suggestions on how to clean it up and make it look nice.

the only thing i could think of is making sort of a box out of birch like a port piece to make it flush with your dash and stain the wood

hmm that could possibly work. not a bad idea. I was also trying to think how hard would it be to fiberglass a new dash bezel and cut out my own slots.

buy the double din and then cut the material above the opening using a air powered cut-off tool.
The doubledin will extend to cover the void left after you cut the opening larger.

Buy a 1/2 DIN EQ to fill up the rest of the space. You can get the Clarion one for about $45, and it will cost about that much in materials for a glass pocket.

Not a fan of those either think they are kind of ugly. If I were to use an eq Id want a 30 band in the trunk. I know im picky lol

That faux wood trim is hideous anyway. Pull all the panels, repaint them the color of your choice. For the radio pocket, modify the dash kit and use body filler to create a smooth transition between the two. Paint all that to match.

I can modify it to look stock. But you would have to lose the woodgrain.

I think it's probably because that sub is not moving enough to allow it to cool.. Id turn the gain up a bit so it moves more for cooling reasons.. That's why it's hard on subs to be underpowered..
