Default question about passive radiators

ok so im thinking about what to do for next summer im thinking of doing 2 oa 18s when they come out in about 4.5 cubes sealed with passive radiators but i have no idea how many i would use or what size, could i get away with 1 18'' pr per powered 18 each 18 would be in its own box and each box would be roughly 19x34x15 and in the trunk of an 05 impala any thoughts on how this might work or fail ?

id choose other options. there is many simpler, less expensive, more appropriate designs for the trunk of an impala. i wouldnt use 15's in a trunk. let alone an 18. let alone 2. i think you'd be better off trying a more conventional setup. however, if you really wanna pursue this, i think physical space will end up being your enemy as an 18, and then an 18" PR makes 36" one direction, which is likely wider than most sides of the trunk. you can likely get away with one pr since its a lower power driver, but i cannot point you in whiich direction to go from here

I would say two 18 inch passive radiators per a single 18. The passive radiator should have equal or greater excursion and get the ones with a screw thread so you can adjust the weight of the cone to "tune" it. The heavier the cone the lower the tuning but you also lose SPL so you just have to find a good tradeoff between low end extension and SPL.

im really just looking for new ideas i thought it would be diffrent, right now im running an 18'' hdc3 in about 5 cubes iirc. ive ran 10s and 12s and wasnt really happy with the output. i have a couple sa-15s that i havent got around to building boxes for yet. out of curiousity why are you against large speakers in trunks?
