Hey guys, I have an Alpine CDA-9807 hu, its got a few years behind it and in the last few months my LCD screen has been going out, not on any particular part, but as a whole. One minute the screen works 100%, then it may dim to 50% for about 10 minutes, then go out so much that i cannot even tell whats on the screen. This problem goes back and forth and is random, however, everything else on the faceplate works 100%, the buttons all work fine, and the blue back lit buttons on the face plate work fine always, just problems with the 7-segment LED screen.
Assuming it was in the faceplate, i found a replacement face on ebay, purchased it, swapped it for the old one and the new one has the exact same problem (or) it is in the head unit itself. I notice the faceplate connects to the unit via 10-12 pins (which all look fine, none bent, damaged, or burnt).
So, i was hoping that would fix my issue, but it is persistent with both face plates.
Does anyone know why this could be or what would cause this issue? I assumed the chip for the display was built into the faceplate and that it would be replaced with the new faceplate. Any input is appreciated on the inner workings of the unit, also how the power is sourced to the display per the connectors.
