Default any one running pro audio?

ive been around car audio for a while and im curious about pro audio trying to figure out if its worth trying.

any one have them installed?

what im trying to figure out is ive heard they are louder but are they just that or actually sound good? also ive seen they are mostly 8 ohm any reason?
i see alot of people running flutes or just about anything as long as they are cheap.
am i missing out or over spending by buying a component set?

just trying to get the pro and cons.

If your looking for loud then yea the pro audio would do the trick. Not saying they sound bad but if you are doing a sq build then go a different route. As for midbass, it all depends on what do you consider midbass. I usually cross my midbass 60-200hz. Most pro audio can't be crossed lower than 100-80hz at full volume.

Like I said they don't sound bad so you should be good. I only used the sundown neo pros so can't speak on other brands. I think they use pro audio for concerts and events. Don't know what they use for home theater.

Think of pro audio like DD's, BTLs, HDC3s, etc and traditional speakers like a Fi q, xxx, brahma, JL, etc... You will get louder and it will still sound good, but you are ultimately sacrificing low end and flat response. To get the sensitivity so high there are trade offs in regards to freq resoponse. Just hink of how concert and PA systems sound. Or speakers in a bar/club. LOUD, clear, but not SQ by any means.

And no pro audio is not the same as standard HT, HT is generally more similiar to mid/high end car audio components.

i understand thanks for the info.
any idea why the are 8 ohms?
most amps on the market ar 4 ohm and below just would be hard to get some power unless people are using a 2 channel and just running mids of 1 channel and tweeter off the other?

Well for pro audio they have a higher ohm stability. Also it's easier to wire multiples when they are at 8 ohms.

most are installed together in cabinets like DJ equipment. where that equipment falls under 4ohm minimums commonly.

Im thinkng about the Soundstream pros myself.

Mainly higher sensitivity in Pro Audio. Your install is gonna represent how they sound. Most have panels full more or less free airing into door cavities.

200hz and up it isnt too relevant "enclosure" wise but the sealed back midranges are beneficial in panels.

Midbass is a little more techy to be effective. Definitely wanna make as much of an enclosure as possible along with panel and door treatments.

cal, i have ran powerbass 6.5" 4xl pro audio speakers in my last 3 setups. They are 4 ohm, and are super loud off low power also.
