Default 1/0 sufficent?

i have 2 300 amp alts. had a 4/0 run per alt before the teardown. hard as ehck to run and didnt like how it was done. would good 1/0 (Knu flex, Monster, shok, good OFC wire) be enough? heard that the more strands the better. or would i be better off running 3/0 or 4/0? multiple runs are NOT an option as the space behind the alt is very limited, and if i do 2 runs per alt of 1/0 might as well do 4/0 bc of the price and space. any suggestions? really jsut want to know if 1/0 will carry 300 amps easily over say 20ft..thanks

if multiple runs arent a option then a 3/0 would be ideal 4/0 even better being you have over 600 amps at the alt even if your current draw is only 300 amps.. try looking at welding cable ofc i solder some 3/0 lugs the other day dam things are just big..

What I would do is a short run from each alt to your front battery. Then make some buss bars and do multiple runs of 1/0. One run will not be enough. Imo

Battery bank is in the back. This is for my 16v charging system. I have 3 alts. Other one is for truck on 12v.

It would be a run for each alt. Or could I do a single run of 4/0, and run a jumper between alts? that would be great lol

thinking about running a short 4/0 piece from one alt to another, then run another 4/0 to the battery.
