Default audioque hdc3 break in before spl run

i was wandering how long the average break in for the hdc3's perferibly the 12's is before they typically run well for term lab? i see people claim and post about hitting 140+ all of the time and im just interested in how long it took to get the subs to that point?

reason for asking is my hdc3 12's have been getting slammed just about everyday multiple times a day and they are still very very stiff. and yes i have plenty of power going to them. infact the beefcake amp that i was lucky enough to get could likely power 4, 3 for sure. also does temperature have anything to do with how fast they break in? and yes they are at the point that almost every day they are sounding even better than the day before.

WTF is "break in?"

HDC's are stiff as fawk. Thye will stay that way. Throw some power at em and get on the meter.

How much power? 140 should be a joke for a pair of hdc3 12's.

Yeap, stiff subs for sure, if you are using small power then i guess they are not gonna be broken in ever haha, you can always do it free air if you want with a few burps

I ran mine free air on Test tones 30-60hz at moderate power for about 2 hours, then put them in my SPL setup and banged out 153's all day with a pair of 10's.

oh ya, i have plenty big enough amp for them. this thing might even be to much of an amp and thats why im just a lil scared to crank it up yet until im sure the spiders had a chance to loosen up. i would sure hate to smell the sub coils skunk stink.

i have heard about the free air break in runs. as for mine they have been in the box since the start and its been about 2 weeks at maybe 30% power. im thinking that perhaps its time to push the amp up a lil.

I always use a 25 hz tone and set it on repeat, play it for about 5 minutes with a low volume, then rise it a little bit , 5 more minutes, a little bit more, etc etc , after 15 or 20 minutes, they smell nice and they are soft
