Default Alt or Batteries?

I just ordered an SAZ 2k for my sub stage. I do eventually want to get a nice 4 channel. My question is : could I get away with just some beefy batteries? I was thinking the biggest possible up front and maybe something small under a seat or in the trunk.

Could I do that? Or would a nice alternator be more in order.

With 2k and a 4ch amp you sould be able to do a nice battery up front and something decent in the back, make sure you run 0 gauge and do the big 3 and you will be fine!

I've got the big 3 done with 0 gauge, and plan on doing a few more runs of better wire to the back of 0. thank you.

Here's the thing about alts and batteries. Batteries store power but can't make them. What good are 10 batteries if there is no way of charging them? I say do alt first and then batts...that's the way I went based on my logic...

If you're only going to run one batt in the back then I'd say you're probably fine with just a batt but if you add more you'll want to beef up the charging portion of the electrical...

Well the way I always looked at it is the batteries are a bank for the power. If there isn't a large enough bank, the system will begin to pull straight from the alt which is bad.

This is true but again, once that bank is depleted what is going to charge it back up? Most stock alt's only give maybe 20-30 extra amps outside of what the vehicle needs...that's not going to charge a batt bank very efficiently

I guess there's always the option of a trickle charger if you'd want to remove the bank after draining them (not going to do much good when you're not at home) but I'd rather just get the alt lol!

Yeah. But every alt company charges so much. Are any alt brands that are cheaper any good, like irragi?

Its not like hes running a 4-5k system and trying to power it off of a big battery bank.. I have seen many people do a 2k system off a nice XS power battery up front with 0 gauge all around and not having any problems. It is also very common to have people running 2 batteries off a stock alternator with out problems. This topic has been disccused so many times do a little serch if you want more info!

What car is it ill look up what the stock alternator puts out?
