Default Am I "Underpowering"?

As you may have seen in my post about if i should get a capacitor or bigger battery, I just bought two Fosgate P3 12''s with 2000w. This is an increase from my two DB 12''s with 1400w.

Yesterday I didn't have enough wiring so I only wired one up to my Polk Audio 880w Amplfier. I was talking to a dude i work with today and he said he wouldn't run one P3 with any amps smaller than 1200w and wouldnt run both with any amps smaller than 2400w. I asked why not and he said under powering subs can be just as bad as overpowering.

So the question is am I under-powering these subs and causing possible damage? And if I do so get a bigger amp, will I have to upgrade my battery/get a capacitor for my already dimming lights and will I need bigger wires than the ones that came in the 1000-1200w pack?

The only reason this myth exists is because retards crank their gain up because they want to be louder and end up clipping their shit.

It is impossible to damage a speaker by underpowering it alone.

A little clipping alone won't kill a sub but alot will.

never in a million years will underpowering cause damage to subs. If you arent stupid and know how to set gains, you will never blow subs or damage them. I dont care what your friend told you.
