i have a 92 ford explorer and im makin a box for 4, 13.5 jlw7s, my question is which would be louder if i make the box with subs up and port up? or subs up port faceing rear hatch, and i have designs for both boxes useing same port area same internal volume just which one you think would be louder thanks for any advice.
Is this a burp box? Are you competing with this build so that it to be be louder by .1 or .2 db to win?
If not, then I would not get too worried about which is going to be louder, because the difference will barely be noticeable. A lot of people prefer the port to the rear (as I do) because it can help sound quality and may also play lower notes a bit better.
A lot of the time port up will be louder on the mic...but not always. Seen quite a few where port back with subs up was louder. I would imagine a lot will depend on what else you have done. Not positive...I have never tested to see what makes port back vs port up louder.
ive dynamated the whole vehicle and i have a sheet of 3/4 inch birch wood on my roof as headliner its fiberglassed and also filled all gaps with spray foam roof is like a brick wall lol pretty solid no flex
