Well i recently installed an awesome system for my friend. First ill give you a little info on the system. I installed a Kenwood KDC-X895 Head Unit, its probably my favorite head unit so far, especially when it comes to price for features. We have also installed
Kicker KS60 (back and front) Mid/highs. Last, for the bass, he still had a PioneerPRS-D1200M mono block (Awesome amp, but they aint cheap) and 2 Alpine Type-R subs. He had them in a sealed box and i convinced him to go with a vented box. (So worth it, lol) sidenote, the kickers are being pushed by the stock infinity/jeep amp for now
NOW... to my question/problem. In his old setup that best buy did for him (thats why there was problem) One of the subs wiring came loose in the box so one of the subs was not working (He had no idea) Unfortunately, my friend put something in the back of his truck without sub grills, so the sub that was working was rubbing very badly on the surround. its now in its new box and its still working but im a bit worried that part of the surround where its very thin will rip. the other Alpine is mint because it was not powered for years. Both the coils are mint and the cones are relatively undamaged.
-- First, I have seen that there is not many rebuild kits for these subs. Plus, i only need the surround.
-- Secondly, i only want/need to "Refoam" one of them and i cant find any surrounds that alpine uses. I also dont want to refoam one with a different surround because i want both subs to produce the same sound.
P.s. Any recommendations on a Amp for the kickers? Something preferably small - to fit under one of the seats?
P.P.S (lol) its a fully loaded 2003 jeep grand Cherokee with the 4.7L V8
and with what i have done already, the lights dim like crazy! suggestions on batteries and alternators?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
