Default Your Thoughs on these subwoofer options...

Ok, so i have 2 Old style RE SX 12s.
And 1 DD9515 dual 1ohm.
I had the DD9515 hooked to a hifonics colossus (~3200RMS)
It is really loud, but at full volume you can start to smell burn coil...
option 1 is to keep the single DD9515.
Option 2
To sell the DD9515 and recone the RE SX12s with FI recones?
or Something that can handle the 3kw of the amp...

What are your thoughs?

I suggest just getting a new sub.

The old school RE SX subs have great softparts and it would be a shame to tear them apart just to make them handle 3k.

But they should be able to handle 1500 rms each!! Unless your clipping the hell out of them.

well, they are reconed already.
But, one of them has the suspension tear, like 2 inches of suspension.
The other looks fine.
How much could i sell both?
another DD9515 would cost around 400dlls...

Oh, you could probably get 200 shipped for the good one and 150 shipped for the one with the tear.

Turn it down a little dd is a 1500rms sub so if your putting all 3200 with the slightest bit of clipping and also depending on the box size/port its going to happen

How are you setting your gains? I've had an AQ hd3 on 3k before and never had any issues. Hard to believe a 9500 series can't take a collossus.

this^^^ what is your electrical system? also what are box specs etc... because you could be loading the sub wrong, as well as playing way below tuning, or above, or have wrong box specs... I put 5k to a 9515 and had no issues... as long as the signal and box are right you can give 3300 rms to a 9515 all day long... lol

^^^ this!!! I had 2 9512g and they were well broken in and very loose... I ran a ap3k on each, sold them to a buddy who strapped 2 ap 1800s at 1 ohm and they are still playing great 1.5 years later... They may smell once in awhile but any sub will have some kind of smell depending on what your doing

My gains are at 1/3, i am not clipping at least the amp didnt show clipping, though the amp is 2ohm mono bridged stable.
My sub is dual 2ohm. sorry, not dual 1. Its around 1.3ohm Mono for the amp
before raise impedance.
And the box is 4.5^3ft with 40^2" port.
My electrical was weak though , i had stock battery in front, and 2 small shurikens in back. I never turn it on loud for too long....,if my voltage drop below 12.8v, i would turn it down.
