Default Starting battery options?

Hello, I just have a couple basic questions on what to look for in a new battery. I know there is plenty of topics on batteries but I am still a bit confused on a couple things. First off let me say my car has stock everything right now, but in the future my plans are to run 2 FI Q 15" and about 2500-3000RMS. I already have 1 run of KnuKonceptz 0 gauge for my 900RMS system now.

So my battery is original with the car (2006) and is getting harder to start and I know I need to replace it soon. I was looking into Optimas as people say they make great starting batteries but others say they suck for running systems compared to other batteries. So then I was leaning towards getting a Kinetik battery which from a lot of reports I hear is a horrible starting battery but is good for the trunk.

I was thinking about getting like an Optima Yellow Top for the front... and then when I wanted to build up my system get some XS Power batts for the trunk. What is involved with running 2 different types of batteries? I always heard this was a big no no.

I am not wanting to spend much more than $200ish right now. Money is pretty tight... I just don't want to go blow $80 on a regular battery from walmart when I can use a good battery in the future.

Thanks for any suggestions and all help!

Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more

^^^my vote, as far as brand (I couldn't pass up a 4yr warranty). I paid just under $200 out the door (cheaper on Friend/Family Sunday). Ask the guy to waive your core charge and craigslist your stock batt (after you have Oreilly's test it).

Will I have problems with the XSPower like I have heard from the kinetiks for starting the vehicle? I need to take some measurements and see if I can pick one up seems like everyone loves them.

I was reading Deka batteries are great for the price as well. I have a Deka31 which is too big for my car... but where one of the top posts are it is pushed down in the battery a quarter inch or so where the post was hit and cracked the plastic on the top. (not sure if it is spillable like this or not?).

Also.. would I have a problem getting an Optima yellow or red top for the starting battery and running an XS Power in the trunk .. I have heard you shouldn't mix 2 different types of batteries?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help!

Edited to add my measurements are 10 1/2" long, 7 inches wide, and 8 inches tall. Guess I need to find a battery that fits close to these measurements.

I have been researching a little more and found the XS Power 3400 for $260 shipped. The measurements are correct.. I just didn't want to spend that much. Should I save up a little more and get this battery if in a few months I am planning on running 2500-3000rms?

Something else that worries me is the battery posts on the top of the battery. How can I install the stock terminals that are with the car until I do the Big 3?

Thanks again!

If you're worried about size/price/quality/starting ability, contact:

[email protected]

He has some DataSafe "Batcap 2000 look-a-likes" for sale for a reallllly good price.

THESE ARE NOT MY BATTERIES AND I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SALE

Edit: If you can't use the stock hardware on the cables, just remove all of the wires from them and attach ring terminals. Then bolt the ring terminals down to the battery posts.

Thank you very much guys! You all have been a lot of help. I think I have my battery questions answered.

When I get my tax returns I think I am going to order 2 FI Q 15" subs and build me a box or have one built tuned to around 29hz and throw my Audiopipe 1500 on it until I can get a new alternator, and another battery on top of this one, and the Sundown amp I want.

I know this is very off subject but wouldn't a round port box be easier to build then slot port? I built my last box and it turned out decent (slot port at 31hz) I just want this one to be as good as I can make it. Or maybe I would be better off having RamDesigns design me a box and have someone local build it for me?
