Default 1501d vs a2400db?

I might have an opportunity to get a Mtx 1501d to power my 2 18w6's. Would there be a noticeable diff between it and a Power acousik a2400db? My pa put's out 900~rms @ 2 ohm's ([email protected]) and is one of the few pa series amp's that weren't junk imo.

After imp/box rise the 18's only went to 1.6 ohm final load, so the pa will put out closer to if not over the 1000rms mark. I'd also have to mod the mtx if I get it so that will put out a little more too (not that it'll need too).

I modded my old 1501d and enjoyed it and it's flexability. I still have the bs and it put out [email protected] 12.5v in stock form.
Is it worth it to upgrade? I can prob get the mtx <200.

Mtx is better quality. Pa can't even compare to mtx. The mtx might sound cleaner too. I'd do mtx over pa all day. I also hear those 1501's do close to 2k if modded and ran at 1 ohm.

Idk 1501d is a good amp forsure

Ive installed quit a few a3000db amps and id honestly run them in my own car! Powerhouses, .5 stable and clean power! I was shocked

I never tried the 2400d thogh but the 1500d will put out more so go with that!

I know the Mtx is a better quality amp. Just wasn't sure it would be a noticeable increase to justify buying it. From what i've heard from multiple people is that it wouldn't be an audible diff switching from say 1000~rms to 1350~rms.

Going from 1k to 1.5k is technically 1.5 db louder. It's not going to be an audible difference in loudness between those two but it might sound diferent in the sq department. One thing to consider is if your pa amp is even putting out that much power.

Specs on the pa is [email protected] and [email protected]. I compared/researched all the diff manf's that used this same board/ components and came up with my number. It's a realistic # imho.

I'll also add that the pa wanged the shit out of my old -3- 12" type r's @ .67 ohm's (1.1 after rise). This thing can throw down, don't let the name fool ya.

the PA will do less than rated, the MTX will do a little more than rated and is much better quality and more reliable.. Ive Ran a A3000bd for a long time (at one ohm "2300rms") on a 1000rms sub and wasnt worried about blowing the sub at all.. PA dont do rated and the A3000db is a bigger amp than urs..

MTX For Sure

Look at the guts between the 2400 and 3000. You'll see that they aren't THAT diff. The 3000 has 4 more of the smaller cap's and 2 extra doo hickies by the adj knobs.
