I'd buy it for $100. That's old school Soundstream at it's greatest before they made the rubicon series. Back in the day, those amps were among the top competitors before they all went downhill (PPI, Orion, ADS, Lanzar). If I had to compare it to an amp in it's era, I'd lean towards the PPI ART series...awesome SQ.

The 6.0 is only rated at 50x2 but they are severely underrated. I've personally witnessed a 3.0 shred a couple 12's apart!

I would say so. Some of Soundstream's amp were stable down to .25 ohm stereo.

'94 / '95. Original Reference series, GREAT amp, GREAT price. Can easily drive a component speaker set in 4 ohms stereo. Very powerful at lower impedances. We are using it to drive two 2 ohm subs in 2 ohm stereo (not even bridged), very nice. Sounds fantastic on tweeters, mids, midbass, sub, you name it.

I have a PPI Art which I need to repair, not yet heard it. Hard to imagine its SQ is better than this one, but possible. In the end, the combination speakers+amp determines the end result. Amp A might sound better than amp B on speakers X, but amp B might sound better than Amp A on speakers Y.

Oslouie, The first gen Rubicons are VERY good amps.

Oh, I'm not doubting the rubicons being good amps. Id rather have the reference series though.

I've heard that the rubicons lacked a few things that the reference had. Both are still great amps.
