Question Xtant X1001 vs MB DSC 2000.1

Okay I need as much input as I can get as I'm fairly new to car audio; I've installed several set-ups but, I don't have a lot of experience with different amps, etc..

Here is my question; I currently have MB Quart Discus Series amps and I'm thinking of swapping them out for Xtant amps. What do you guys think?

I have 6.5" Diamond audio components up front and 4 6x9s in the rear panel and I'm running two Alpine Type X 10" subs.

I currently have everything running off of a stock cs144 (upgrading to high output), BIG 3, C&D battery up front, and DEKA intimidator in trunk with 1/0 wiring all around. Oh yeah and have an old school kenwood x991.

The amps in car right now are 2 MB QUART DSC 480 and 1 MB QUART DSC 2000.1.

I'm thinking of swapping them out for an Xtant X1001 and one X604. I figured going down to these two amps will probably run everything the same or maybe better from what I've been told. I know Xtant amps were great but, how do they fare up compared to the DISCUS series MB Quart amps currently in car? Any input appreciated, thanks.

You'll sacrifice power for sound quality. The Xtant amps are of better quality built by Mitek back in the days just like the old school MTX amps. They are powerful and underrated but I'd stick with the MBQ's just because I like the extra headroom. The MBQ's are underrated as well so like I said, you'll be cutting back 1k of sub power for a bit better sound quality...not worth it to me.

Thanks, that what I was thinking as well. I guess once what I put singer or mechman alternator; I"ll really feel a difference. How much do you think I can get for the Xtant amps? I might keep for a different project or sell on the forum... Thanks for the input

I was hoping it wouldn't be 1k power loss on the subs; heard these amps were capable of putting out 1500 or so watts at 1 ohm and [email protected] even though they were specd out at [email protected] as well...

Xtant definitely. The few Xtant amps I've owned fared very well against amps much larger.

I don't think the Xtant 1001x is that underrated. It's a nice amp and all but do your research on the MBQ2k and you'll see that it's underrated too, by a good amount.

I'm debating between the two; MB Quart amps are doing the job but, if the Xtant amps will give me better SQ; I wouldn't mind swapping out the MBQs. I'm going to wait until I install hi-output alternator and see the MBQs respond. How about the x604 vs the 2 480s bridged? I think the x604 might run the HEX 600 Diamond 6.5s on two channels and 4 6x9s wired to 2 ohms to the other 2 channels pretty decent but, once again I really need input from xtant owners and people experienced with xtant and other amps such as MBQs. I appreciate the input and will wait to see if I can get more input before I make a decision.

Any othe input? I'm thinking of switching out the Alpine Type X 10s for a set of 12 RE Audio SEx and just running the xtant; I want to hear the difference in sound quality...
