Default Amp acting funny please help

I have 1 15'' obsidian sub hooked up to a pioneer 760 amp just some amp from wal mart. When i turn my car on the amp turns on and will run the sub at low volume but as soon as i turn it up to about 10 15 it stops running the sub but the power light on the amp stays on. I've tried to clean my ground, new fuses, and ive checked the remote wire. Can someone please give me some ideas of what to do next?

edit;

If it's acting funny, you should laugh at it.

but seriously, wire the coils in series and maybe your amp won't shut off.

also, sometimes when you work on a car for a long time, you kill the battery.. if that happened, charge the battery.

They are already wired in series. Could the amp be stuck in protection mode?

it does sound like the subs impedance is too low for the amp,

is it a d4 sub? an the amp should be 2ohm stable?

its possible, too much volume an not enough voltage will make an amp cut out,

or poor grounds an connections,
it doesnt hurt to double check the subs ohms an make sure its where it should be,
ive had a tinsel lead short out on me once before an it was running on 1 coil only
