Default First trunk car system...

So I have some bad news...I had to give back my truck in the divorce that I had my build in. Audio is staying with me but the car I had to buy isn't going to house 2x XL 18's in any way shape or form with having kids lol. I am thinking about a small build for the new car but don't want to go to extremes with it since it's my daily driver but didn't know what the best way to build for a trunk car would be.

I'm really thinking about sealing off the trunk with the box, aero and subs firing forward as I've seen this a lot but wanted to get some opinions. My trunk is really pretty big for the car (2011 Toyota Corolla S...before I get ragged on for it lol, my mom works at a dealership and the owner bought too many of these so I got it at dealer cost, 0% financing and a 6 yr, 100,000 bumper to bumper warranty for the cheapz!!).

I don't want to deface it just yet as the resale value is important to me so I'm going to keep it small...would that kind of box work well for trunk cars with the seat folded down?

I do have plans for another big build but I have to see what I can get from the junk yard...I love to buy wrecked vehicles and fix 'em up so I'm going to look for something in the yard for my next project vehicle and that's why I don't want anything big for the car.

Honestly, that orientation is USAUALLY loudest on the meter, but with kids, I don't think it's your best option. When the kids or passengers are in the car and the seats are up, your subs and port will be stuffed against the back seats.

Unless you just HAVE to have some super pretty built in install, I'd go with a pair solid 10's or a 12 and just do sub up port to the side in a box that's relatively easily removed in the event that you need the trunk space.

You'd be surprised how loud and how good this seemingly very simple setup will sound even with the seats up. I do suggest removing the rear deck speakers or riding with the rear armrest down if there's a pass behind it.

I rocked a similar setup in my Lexus for like a year. Single SA12 sub up port into the passenger corner and it soudned great on ~ 1k. It did 141-142 in the 35hz range. I started to go bigger, but HATED all the weight back there and the resulting ass sag.

If you compete, you can always have a comp setup ready to go in.

Thanks for the input Taylor...this is exactly the type of info I was looking for. My buddy has a single 12" Kicker L5 in his Accord and honestly I hate the way it sounds lol...could be cause it's a Kicker or because his box is all port and hardly no airspace but it just doesn't do it for me. I know proper equipment will make a difference and I plan on using quality over quantity for my car but an idea of the application is what I was after.

I'll probably take your advice since my kids are little enough they both use booster seats and can't ride around with the seats folded down because of them so I'm thinking that PSI build 12" with the 4" coil on about 2K rms will do me about right without having to upgrade too much electrical. Big three, one run of 1/0 pos and neg front to back and one of my small batts in the back should do well.

Thanks again for the info bro!

In my avenger, I have found so far that I am loudest with the port side firing and subs forward. I have yet to try subs up with a side firing port but that is my next task.

No ski hole in those cars and I don't think they have speakers in the rear deck so that kind of limits you pretty bad
