Default comps in kick vs rear door/somewhere else (lol)

so I ordered some custom kick panels off of crutchfield, they were on sale for $39 shipped, they fit a 5.25 comp set. Was thinking about getting a matching set of focals to put down there, either the 130vr or maybe 130kp, don't know the exact model numbers, all I have right now is the 165vr set in my door/tweeter in dash, which scream and are super clear, I actually have to set the hpf a little higher because the lower frequency is causing a little distortion. but anyways I got the kick panel set because they were on clearance, it was impulsive, and I figured what could it hurt, but I just wanted to know what you guys thought about putting some fill in another location. the rear deck was a problem for me. I got a lot of distortion with my stock 6x9's because of the vibration from the subs, plus once I get this FI BL in the trunk its going to be even worse. so you think the kick will sound good, or should I cut into the rear door and put another 6.5" set there? shoot me some ideas, just putting it out there....I gotta say it again though, focals effing rock man, they sound so damn good. I'm really impressed

Dependds on if you are trying to make it sound better or just make it "louder."

If you're set on using the kicks in conjunction with the comps, I'd get some good procesing or at least some really good crossovers. Make the 6.5's dedicated mid bass (70-300hz), the 5.25's for mids (300-2.6khz) and the tweets in the kicks for tweeter duty (2.6khz and up). Keep the tweeter in the dash to add some stage height and cross it really high. Say... 8khz? Might have to play with that cross to get it to blend, but you won't need much from it.

This crossover points are just suggestions. Not set in stone. You'll have to adjust up or down to suit your own taste and vehicle.

so you're talking about the mystical "running active" huh? damn...if I do that imma need another 2 or 4 channel amp....prolly just get another rockford p400-4, they're pretty efficient little amps. and a 3way crossover then...dammit!!! saw someone had one on here for 50 shipped that I tried to grab up real quick...I would have to wire each speaker individually then correct? like run channel 1-2 for tweeters, then 3-4 for midrange, and 5-6 for midbass, then 7-8 I could run for the extra tweeter duty uptop right? damn you, I really didn't wanna do this anytime soon, but I guess that's the next big move

editr I could just get a DSP right? how would i control that...like I looked into a rockford 360, but I don't know what to use to change teh setting on it....hook it up to a laptop or something??

I guess you could just try to run them all off the same channels and see what you get. I wouldn't expect miracles though. Some freqs will get reinforced, some will get cancellation.

You wouldn't be the first person in history to just sling a bunch of highs in a vehicle and hope for the best.

Try it out. Might sound fantastic. What's the worst that can happen? Lol.

Depends on what you mean. Some of my HU's have had built in DSP. But I own a 2x8 miniDSP if that's what you mean. I haven't even hoooked mine up yet, but a buddy is running the 2x4 and it's amazing.

I know it seems complicated, but it's not. It's just a processor with amazing control for cheap as shit.

You make adjustments with your laptop. The plug-ins are $10 and download from there.

2x4 indicates it's 2 channels in and 4 channels of control out. 2x8 = 2 channel in, 8 channels out. If you want to run what you're talking about actively, get two 2x4's or a 2x8 and run the sub off of the HU sub out.
