Default Stetsom 14k electrical requirement

hi guys,

i have this guy walk into the shop and is going to install his stetsom 14k.

i know this is a crazy powerful amp, but what is the necessary electrical back up in order for this amp to be ran daily

guy wants to run this on his 2 BTLs.

i'll be selling him a ton of cable, but any info on the " basic" requirements of this amp is appreciated

thanks

Cheers

Russ

I'm no expert..but first thing I would do is tell him 7k per sub daily isn't a good idea! Other than that he will need 3-4 BIG alts and a good battery bank I would guess.

If it helps at all, I ran the 10k on a single 280A alt, and (4) G31's with an XS 3400 under the hood with "acceptable" voltage drop.

Depending on how crazy the guy is, I would think dual 300A alts and (6) G31's would probably hold up.

5 good batteries and a good h.o alt and you could get by

Thats what i ran mine on. I wish i had some better batteries tho when i ran mine. I was using 5 C&D 103ah batts and would drop to 12.7. But i think if i had some xs power or batcap i could have stayed in the 13s no problem. When i had my 14k2d as long as i didnt drop below 12.7 then i wouldnt have a problem with clipping my subs to the point where you could start to smell them

If you want to be really safe id run 10 if they have the money

Don't run it below 1 ohm! And 5-7 batteries and a decent 270A alt should be just fine. He also needs to buy an external charger to maintain the battery bank. Something like the XS intilcharger.

What do you mean he is in trouble? Doesn't want to get the electrical? Or wants to run it at a low load?

2-3 300 amp alts and about 6 group 31 batteries plus one under the hood.should be fine then.i ran a 10 k on 375 of alt power and 1 d 3100 for a year at .7 with no issues at all in a street b truck ,loudest in the states in a truck, never went below 12 volts either.just get input bars for the amp for as many runs of 0 gauge as you can right at the amp.
