Default Box Help Need, I'm Ill-Educated LOL.

So i have never really had time or cash to build a box. but i really wanna do this system right. or at least close to as best i can get it.

i wanna use aero ports as it will be best for my situation. Gonna try and build it for my 2 Skar VVX 12's.

How much port area would i need to get a tuning of 32-35hz using aeros?
I would like to use a single 6" or a pair of 4".

I'm aiming for 3.5ft^3 after displacement. Each woofer has a displacement of .18ft^3. So i should need about 3.86ft^3 to account for displacement,

If i went with a 6" aero how long would it need to be to get the tuning i want? and also if i went with 2 4" aero how long would that need to be also?

Does the 3.86ft^3 include space for the aero or would it need additional space to accommodate?

And do i have the available space for a box of this size with these dimensions. *NOTE, THESE DIMENSIONS ARE OUTSIDE DIMENSIONS*

Length = 16.25"
Height = 13.5"
Width = 36"

I'm not asking for a handout, just help. If you wanna give me some kind of equation to help me learn how to do this myself, that'd be cool also!

If you need more info, or i'm missing something in this. let me know.

A 17" long 6" aero displaces approximately .28 cubes. As far as the tuning, check this out: Products Menu Hopefully this is at least some help.

i just checked out the box calculator and i'm kinda like wwwttttfff.... as i got

.75" for wood thickness.
.36ft^3 for all displacements
Outer dims L16.25 W36 H13.5
Makes Box Volume 3.53ft^3

and either i can use a single 6" long 4" aero to get tuning of 34.87hz
or
2 15" long 4" aero to get tuning of 34.81hz

is this because i am changing the internal volume of the box? or is something just muffed up?

maybe i should just get someone to build me a slot ported box with the dimensions i have to work with? lol.

Did you see what you could do with a single 6" aero? Personally, I just built a box with a full length 6" aero for a single OA15. I just went with the 17" displacement, since that's about how long one from Parts Express is, and then factored in all of my displacements to get my final cu.ft., then used the tool I linked u to for my tuning.

I'd try to go for the single 6" aero if you have the depth/width for it. I've seem it said many times that a 6" aero is a near perfect match for a single 15" or two 12"s...

But if you want to have the box built I would recommend WooferWarehouse (link in sig)

if someone can double check my calculations if you dont mind. what i have is

wood thickness being at .75"
.36^3 for subwoofer displacement
outside dimensions. L16.25" W36" H13.5"

with one 6" aero needs be 18" long. i get 34.55hz tuning, port displacement .32ft^3, net volume 2.85ft^3. 9.92in^2 port area per foot.

with two 4" aero need be 15" long. i get 34.81hz tuning, port displacement .22ft^3, net volume 2.92ft^3, 4.3in^2 port area per foot.

Or if i wanted slot port with L14 W1.5 H12 net volume 2.86ft^3 tuning of 31.12hz for the lower lowzzz. lol.

either at 2.85ft^3 or 2.92ft^3 that does not seem like close enough volume for the skars.

i know for sure these dimensions i will be able to fit the box through the trunk opening. i'm not sure if i can go any bigger....

Your calculations seem perfect. I would contact Kevin as to whether or not that box is too small. Personally I don't think it is, you'll just have a narrower response and a bigger peak somewhere around the tuning frequency.
