Default amp voltage

when monitoring your amp voltage what is the best way to hook up, lets say a stinger volt meter to your amp?

or if you worried about shoving too many wires into you amp terminals you can hook it to the rear battery if you have one
but directly into amp terminals is best

Yes like the rest said. Hook it straight to your amp's power and ground. You definitely get a WAY BETTER Voltage reading from there. That's how I have mine hooked up.

how accurate is it to be hooked at the amp terminal but mounted at the dash? Does the wire length affect it much from amp to dash?

If there is any (measurable) difference at all, there are 2 ways to combat it:

1. The drop across the wire is a constant (if it's .1 then it will always be .1). So you could measure it and if your meter was off by .1, you could just keep that in mind and add .1 (mentally) to the reading.

2. Volt meters such as the Stinger are adjustable. So you measure at the amp, then match the voltages using a knob on the back of the meter. Problem solved.

yes quite a bit sometimes depending on the gauge wire you use.
