Default Which Sub/Amp Should I Upgrade To?

I currently have a nice SQ setup, but I'm looking to improve my low end.

I have a 1995 Honda Civic DX 2 Door.

Current Setup::.
-Power- / -Wire-
170Amp Alt.
Stinger SPV35 Battery Underhood
0ga. Big 3 KnuKonceptz OFC
4ga. Rockford Fosgate Dual Amp Kit to Rear
16ga. to Mids/Highs
10ga. KnuKonceptz Karma SS to Box, Inside Box, Both Coils
6M KnuKonceptz Krystal Kables 2 Channel to SubAmp, 4 Channel to MidAmp

-Speakers- / -Equipment-
Alpine 9886 Headunit
Alpine MRP-M500 SubAmp
PolkAudio PA660 MidAmp
Kenwood KFC-P708 6 3/4 Components in Front Doors
Infinity Kappa 62.9I 6 1/2 Coaxials in Rear Deck
Rockford Fosgate Punch P312D4 (2004 Model) Bought it new about 6 months ago
Cheap Bassworx prefab box from BestBuy

I've been debating on building a new box, or buying an AudioEnhancers box since I don't really have the space, or tools to build my own box. I have a Brother in Law that works at a cabinent shop so I could build my own but don't want to have to ask if you know what I mean.

I have about 16" of height clearance in my trunk so that kind of limits what I can put in the rear. I could sqeeze a 17" high box back there if need be. I'd love to upgrade to a 15" if I could get it in the trunk.

I'm thinking about changing amps to an Alpine MRX-M100 which would give me ~1kw to play with. I used to run PPI amps back in the day but I've seen where they're not the same company any more and look like junk now IMO.

The Subs I've been looking at are::.

-PSI 12″/15" Platform 1
-RE Audio SXX15D4 / SXX12D4
-RE Audio SEX15D4 / SEX12D4
-Sundown Audio SA12 / SA15 dual 4
-SKAR Audio VVX-12D4 / VVX-15D4

There are some others I've looked at but can't think of them all ATM.

I'd like to stay around $2-300 on the Sub. I'm looking to spend around $6-700 on everything and I can get the Alpine MRX-M100 for $200. I'm not wanting to go too big because then I'll have to upgrade everything else, and currently the system sounds great just could use a little more low end.

I am planning on running 0ga. to the rear, and if I do I may isolate another battery in the trunk. I'd rather have too much clean power then not enough. Plus I listen to the radio w/ the car off often.

Thanks ... I actually threw away some old school Planet Audio subs that were given to me about a month ago, only 1 worked on one of them and the other one was completely dead. I pulled the magnets off of them and disposed of the rest. I wish I would have known about PSI before hand, I'm sure they could have reconed them for me.

I can't even find a picture of what those subs looked like now ... I wonder how good they would have been reconed.

Would I be able to use my current amp to drive the PSI Platform 1? I know the Alpine amps are a little under rated, and this amp has 2x 30amp fuses so in theory it could do around 600w.

Thanks Again.

Also which PreFab box would you guys recommend?

I know there isn't really any prefab box that's great but I'd rather buy one then build one myself.

AudioEnhancers is suppose to be a decent box from what I've read. It's hard to find out what's good and what's not on the interwebs because everybody has their opinions. It's also hard to tell if someone is lying to you on here.

It really sucks being in Alabama now ... There isn't any stereo shops around here. I'm from Atlanta and there it seems they're on every street corner.

Contact David at. P S I he has basket and all I sent him my 10's and he rebuilt them to 12's. Not sure about pre Fab boxes. Most are tuned high. That amp will be fine! What is that amp stable at 1 ohm or 2 ohm?

Best bet is to build your own box! That way it didn't cost you a arm and a leg. And if you don't like it you can redo it ! For less then if you purchases 3 prefabs! Lol

build your own box.tune to around 32hz. i would go with either the skar or sundown 12" sub and a crescendo bc2000d(like $380 plus shipping).
