Okay so I wired my subs at .5 today from 2 and also disconnected both my processor and line driver.
I've been told by numerous people that alpines put out no distortion at full volume.
Been told to run my subwoofer level at max (+15 in my case), but regardless of that setting, I'm distorting (according to a DD-1 playing 40 hz @ -5 db), regardless of my gain.
Setting my gains with the DD-1, subwoofer level at 1, results in almost no bass. Turning the sub to +15 gives me a little, but they're still barely moving.
If I turn the gain up a little, still way below distortion "by ear", I get some volume, but it's still quieter than when it was wired at 2 ohms, gain similar locations.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I should have my headunit settings?
Oh, I realized I ripped the DD-1 tones as 320kbps AAC off a flash drive; not sure if that will cause distortion.
I'm going to rip them as apple lossless and put them on my ipod but I was under the impression that is converted to a lossy format when sync'd anyways.
