I'd say drop a little extra dough and get something better. Out of those two options I would say they are about equal reliability. I however would side with the AP just never been a fan of hifonics. Good luck with your decision.

I just did a build in my friends S-10 extended cab with 4 sundown SD-2 12s D2. On 1 ZRX3000.1. With a XSpower XP3000. It suppressed me. I don use hifonics amps much but this amp gets my vote. It doesn't get warm and sounds clean.

actually the hifonics is $289.99 off sonic and the AP is around 380 on ebay so theirs a decent price range between them...

The Hifonics will make it's power at 1ohm, the AP is only stable at 2ohm.

i emailed hifonics about the 2000.1 and this is what i got from mike

Hello,
ZRX is our entry line and NOT rms rated. That amp is 1500wrms @ 1-Ohm and 14.4V. If you want rms, you will need to look at Gladiator or Brutus. I cannot recommend .5-Ohm on any of our products.

IMO the only good maxxisonics boards with hifonics are the xx and xxv series (same boards as other proven bigboy amps)...anything else is mid level or lower. The maxxisoncs employee even chimmed in and said the ZRX line is entry level and not RMS rated...

I've been using an ap3000.1d for the last few months with only one side hooked up to my 1 ohm load and it's been remarkably impressive for only a rated 1500w per side. I'm sure both sides hooked up with enough juice behind it and it'll be beast out.

Steve at ampmedics (who lives and breaths 3kw and up amps every day) says the ap3000.1, powerbass 3k, and crescendo's are some of the best amps for the money. He laughs at the fact the crescendo 5500 is the same board as the saz-4500d and costs signifigantly less.

That all being said I just picked up a 1ohm stable amp for my setup and I'll be listing for sale my ap3000.1 this week. Shoot me a PM if you need 2 ohm power. We can work out a decent price for mine. It's in good condition and you wont be paying almost $400 for an ebay one

I had the AP30001D, it does rated power but I don't think it can stand up to abuse such as low voltage.

I sold mine to some stupid ass kid who had an alligator clamp as the ground, the amp went into protect while I was watching and all he said was "oh that's voltage drop for ya." I took his money and felt bad for the amp cause it was mint and never went into protect until that dumbass bought it.

I'm pretty sure it's fried now.
