Default strip chome off motor, has it been done..

Has anybody ever sanded or striped chrome off motor to expose copper...just wanting to know if that would effect the motor. I would think it would be cosmetic only..i think i might try it an buff copper with tarn x, then basket flat black...what do you guys think...

motors use a nickel or sometimes copper plating to hold the chrome but under that is all steel. Its near impossible to remove the chrome and not the copper around the motor, atleast from any methods I know. yeah you will see some copper but to go through the whole motor and not go past most the copper and to the steel will be very hard

It was worth a shot, I started sanding a old 2.5" re motor, I think a person could do it, BUT it will take alot of time, the chrome comes off quick with 120grit sanding sponge, then you must slow way down so you down remove copper plating aswell...thanks for info bumpin buick..what can i say im a basshead i had to try....lol
