Default Fighting clipping

so i know clipping is everywhere and waiting to kill your eqiupment. You got prevent the radio from clipping, set gains properly, prevent the voltage drop clipping and i heard some sound engineer intentionally clip music to get a certain sound. So i'm assuming is the safest bet to run half the power rms what your subs can handle clipped? Im assuming that what most makers are pushing now a day. Like the HDC3s on 1k rms, but they could probably beriefly handle 2k clipped. Whats you guys thoughts on that?

Yes, You should only run 1/2 RMS to a 1500 rms sub. The clipping will instantly incinerate the coil and destroy the car in the process.

Or kick it in the nuts and run!

I think it's probably because that sub is not moving enough to allow it to cool.. Id turn the gain up a bit so it moves more for cooling reasons.. That's why it's hard on subs to be underpowered..

that sounds rather dumb to me. you shold never "plan" to run X amount of watts clipped. Do what you can to avoid it. if you can't, just know the ACTUAL REAL WORLD limits of your sub(s) or expect to start smoking. really not much more to it than that

I was assuming this is already taken into consideration when the ratings are made. Like the NS v3. Rated at 2500 and the vid had it clipping on that and handling it. Thats what i meant

well thats a bit different. its "rated" to handle 2500rms clean power. now, to show the strength of the driver, jake pushed the saz2500 he was testing it with into audible clipping. that didn't necessarily influence the rating, more so just confirms how overbuilt some products are
