So I have two M4a's in my trunk on two DD 95z15's. I am wired to .9 ohms for pair and with box rise am seeing a reactive load of about 1.8 ohms @ 39z. Of course there is an impedance curve and at some frequencies I am seeing as low as 1.2 ohms. Currently I have the pair strapped and I ran them in series to start at 1.8 ohms and I am sure I am rising up to about 3.6 ohms as that is about what i have seen with this box (2x-3x rise). Its loud wired that way but of course for competition purposes I want to wire back down to .9 and with rise the amp will see around 1.8 ohms.
DD says don't go below 2 ohms of course...but I need just a little more power.
I would like to hear from guys that have strapped these with a reactive load below 2 ohms on music? I am not trying to get full power out of the pair at this load either...I just want to another 2k or so of clean power. In the MWSPL class I run I just need to play music for 30 secs wired this way.
Let me know your thoughts and experiences with strapping these amps.
I am not too worried about electrical because I only need to do this for 30 seconds and I am not trying to use ALL available power. But I do have 220 amp alt, odyessy pc 1500 up front and two HUGE odyessy pc 1800FTs in the trunk. Currently as is it only drops to the mid 12's on voltage at full tilt on music for 30 sec. So I believe I my electrical will hold up for 30 seconds in the high 11's if I did this..which isn't too bad.
