Default Box ideas for new system?

Recently had my 10w7's and 1000/1 jacked out of my Tahoe when I was out of town for xmas.

Luckily, I had a RF 2500.1 sitting in the closet.. So the start of my new system begins there.

I'm deciding to go with two 12" Fi Q's.. Dead set on the woofer. Wanting to go ported.. pretty certain about that.

My question is, what are the benefits of an aero-port type enclosure, versus a standard slotted port. --Looking for a good all around SQ setup (I know SQ setups use sealed enclosures) as well as some good boomy lows (hence the ported decision)

$1000 Budget for 2 woofers, box, and capacitor. Would be great to find some Fi's on here for sale, but looks like I will build mine from scratch.

Thanks for the replies

Probably should have done the easy google search on this topic..

So while I read the answer to my question on google, feel free to remark on my ignorance

Firstly im sorry to hear that your system was stolen but glad to hear your able to get back on your feet and do a new and potentially better install you may not have had the opportunity or rather i should say the need or desire to do so otherwise.

well going with an aero versus a slot port will save you on the overall size of the box, as they will displace less air they also tend to have a very clean sound about them when use appropriately.

a slot port will be cheaper, and provide natural bracing for the enclosure as the connnect two opposite panels.

with the last comment I would like to first say, do not waste your money on a capacitor. they have a purpose, but will not benefit you for that t2500.
I suggest instead picking up a good quality agm battery, and if you have not alrready do the big three on your vehicle.

the big three are the main wires for electrical current in your car.
they are the battery ground, The positive wire from alternator to the battery, and the engine to ground. they should be done with 1/0 wire and the grounds should be sanded and clean.

$1000 should be plenty to buy a pair of qs a battery and 2 sheets of wood. either MDF or Birch ply is recomended 3/4

depending on where you get your equipment and if it is new or used, you may have enough left over for someone to build the box for you, if you are uncomfortable doing so.

Im sorry for the long text I hope this is helpful.

if you have some dimensions you would prefer to keep the box to post them up here or shoot me a pm ill be glad to point you in the right direction.

Thank you for the concise reply! You really gave me a ton of helpful information!!

Big 3 is already done on the Tahoe.. I had it recently wired for the 2500 but was satisfied with my 1000w JL setup and planned on selling that amp. Glad I didn't!

With your insight, I'm planning on doing some research on aero-port enclosures.. and which application would be ideal for my setup. I'm wanting the cleanest sound possible with minimal sacrifice in volume. (Aren't we all!)

Really excited about the Fi's.. I would build my own box if I had the tools.. No saw or workbench.. or clamps.. nothing. I'm budgeting $250 for a custom box either from a local guru, online custom builder, or local shop.

Dimensions are relaxed.. Pretty much anything fits in a Tahoe. I would like it to be as wide as the cargo area.. I can measure tomorrow.

Thanks again for that reply..
