Default refresh rate(ELECTRONICS GURU NEEDED)

i bought the cheapest voltmeter possible and have a little bit of electrical skill. im looking to install a potentiometer to correct the little bit that the readings are off and just set it and forget it. im not sure what kind of component however id need to use to retard the refresh rate to something more managable. i know most are going to say go buy another meter. but this one in particular would go especially well with my interior and im fairly sure what im trying to sccomplish could be done for less than the price of a new meter

A potentiometer would only bring the voltage down, not comoinsate for drop... besting can do is make the sensing wire as short as possible and use decent sized wire to lessen volt drop

IIf u have 5 volts...and put a potentiometer in line, if its all the way up/full contact it would show 5... if it was turned down it would be less so it can't compensate for drop...refresh rate isn't avoid able so setting Up the most efficient sense wire is best

well ive got a decent sized wire but when its bouncing from 14.7 to 14.6 id be damned if it didnt look like 14.8 maybe ill have to break down and get a stinger meter i just liked how i was going to be able to work this one cleanly in my dash. so your saying theres not even a simple circuit i could build with a radioshack IC to slow down the display rate? i know the rate at which the potentiometer reduced my readings would probably be a little bit more linear then id need it to be or maybe not linear at all idk

Fast refresh is ur friend.. try to get use to it then.. as long as ur not seeing ow 13's ur fine since that's prob 12.7-12.9 on the amp after drop.. slow refresh is bad... if ur playing a song and ur refresh says 13.5... then 13.. then 12.5... u turn it down to keep from harm but the amp sees 13...12.5... 11.8 so its being hurt... adding devices (potentiometer, resistor, rectifier etc.).. will only bring the sense point closer maintain refresh more accurate

after taking a wire wheel to my connections and adjusting how my alpine amp was getting power im charging at 14.7 which i know is actually like 14.3-.4 and i rest at 13.2 which is actually 12.9 i only see 13 ever which looks like 19 on the gauge right when a note drops but otherwise im staying between 14.6-14.2 on the meter which should be high 13s. its just annoying watching it flicker and im wondering if i can slow it down just a hair. i like the stinger but ive seen the smd comparison and understand that but mine is just confusing like imagine if the stinger had the response time of the smd

Which meter are you using?

Cause I bought a $3 ebay meter and it has the same readings as my $100 fluke meter.

Edit: fluke T5-600 is my meter.
