Default 1 tweeter a lot louder than the other? 0.o

So I finished hooking up my mb quart pce-213 component set the other day. For some reason 1 of the tweeters is much louder than the other one. I tried switching speaker wires from the louder tweeter, to eliminate possible amp/crossover problem, and there was no difference. The quieter tweeter still sounds good, and gets decent loud at higher volume, and sounds good doing so. I just don't understand why it's so much quieter than the other tweeter. Can anyone explain this? I hope I wasn't sold a partially blown tweeter...sigh

if you switched the tweeters and the problem stayed with the tweeter, then the problem is the tweeter.

get out your dmm and check the impedance of the tweeter. if thats not the culprit, try swapping their locations, depending on the axis (the angle at which it is angled at you) one may be louder if one is on axis and one off. my passenger tweeter "appears" quieter than my driver tweeter because its simply a further distance away, your deck should have a left/right fade option to counteract it. simply adjust in in the direction of the quieter tweeter 1 or 2 clicks.

I will test the impedence the next chance I get. It really is a night and day difference in how loud they are, so I know it's not from axis, or positioning. My only other thought is maybe a wire got pinched somehow mounting them in my pillars. I doubt it, but anything is possible. One of the 5.25 scratches at higher volume also, so Im assuming this guy blew them, then sold them as perfectly working condition. Guess I'll buy new from now on.

Well, I tested both tweeters from same channel on amp, and using same crossover, one right after the other. So I am sure it don't have to do with either the amp or crossover. I should have jumped on the bravox component deal when I had the chance. *Facepalm*

I have a pair of RE XXX tweeters and one was quieter straight out the box
It sounds perfect, just down -3db or so. Not a problem since I run active from my 9887
FYI mine measured identical resistance...

Car is not here to test. I am guessing its more like a -10db difference. Interesting to know tweeters can sound like that new though...

Yeah, was a bit pissed about it TBH but the XXX tweeters sound absolutely AWESOME though so couldn't be bothered sending them back, since I had a ideal fix. I believe mine was a very rare case (with XXX anyway).

I say -3db, it could be more. I will get them out and check later on.
