Exclamation Remotely Controlled Power Switches?

I was thinking about replacing all of my hardwired switches (they run my fans, my HALOs, LEDs, etc.) with a wireless switch. It would basically be a bluetooth app on my phone/tablet that can send a signal to the device in the trunk or under the hood or wherever it's located and that would activate whichever circuits were chosen on the app. Similar to a home automation system.

Anyone ever seen a device that will work with our 0-24V DC range that would do this? It would also need expandability (more circuits to be switched).

Also, would you be interested in a device like this? How much would you really pay for it? Would you rather it be pre-assembled for a fee or as a kit to be assembled by you? I have a few E.E. friends that said it would be pretty easy to do, I just wanted to see if someone had done it and if anyone else would be interested.

haven't seen an app for this other than the Remote start apps that have aux controls. an alarm system is probably the easiest way to do some of these as you can add aux controls to most higher end alarms.

That seems like a pretty pricey method of doing this.

if you already have one than you should have some aux inputs for those type of controls. so it's just a matter or programming and adding the plug.

most aftermarket alarms w/remote start have 2 or more aux inputs. considering you can get them for ~$100-200, it's really not that expensive. plus you can still get the factory alarm to function with it. considering your idea for an app, there isn't an app out there and most likely wont be any for years. home automation is completely different b/c you have a constant power source as well as a constant communication line (wi-fi). you could technically use home automation apps in your car if your car has constant wifi connection. the reason why i suggested an alarm that uses the remote start app is b/c that is the closest to what you originally said.

Yeah, just seems like a roundabout solution. I'm sure there are a few cars that wouldn't work with the aftermarket alarm system well enough for it to be worth it. Just a simple Arduino board and about two hours of programming of an app would probably solve this and allow as much expansion as you could need.
